Nope, been here in the Central Valley it's whole life. It sat in a field with all the windows down since '93Stuka wrote:Was this jeep originally from back east? Never seen that kind of rust on a 76+ FSJ from out here.
As for fixing it, I would patch the whole in the bottom of the frame, and then weld on a new spring hanger. There are universal ones that will work fine for you. And then check the other side, it may be on its way.
Thanks, Flint. You wouldn't happen to have any after pics of the repair, would you?fulsizjeep wrote:I like Tim's idea.
I got to see one come apart in Moab once. This was on Shimniok's Troubled Child. He happened to have a new cordless drill with him and between the rest of us, we found enough bolts to go in the drilled rivet holes in order to get off the trail. The next morning he was at a welding shop and goterdun up proper.
I wish I did... You might get something from Shimniok if you PM him. He is pretty good at getting plenty pictures on outings.HeavyMetalThunder_81 wrote:Thanks, Flint. You wouldn't happen to have any after pics of the repair, would you?
After recent events i believe the earlier ones were thinner sheetmetal than the body lol at least thats how it seems to me. I believe early was 1/8, newer were 3/16, but it varies it seems. The newer ones cohld be 1/8 if they were built at 5pm on a friday haha. The only thing i have found consistent with FSJ production is that nothing is consistentHeavyMetalThunder_81 wrote:Anyone have a definitive answer to how thick our frames are? Some say 1/8", others say 3/16".
