J20 front shackles

Post by JamesDarling »

Ive been trying to search for the answer to this but I'm not getting a black and white kinda answer.
I was looking to purchase front shackles and every big jeep vendor site has the disclaimer doesn't fit j20.
I was wondering what guys use on the j20 fronts. BJ;s has a lift shackle that seems like it would work but not trying to lift in that way.
should i just rebuild the current ones? they are heavily rusted

all insight is greatly appreciated!

As I recall the difference is that J20's don't use the stamped steel shackles, but instead use a heavier duty welded shackle. But that may just depend on the year. Spring sizes are the same, frame side is the same as I recall.

Yes, thats my understanding/experience--just heavier/thicker steel. I believe a good set for a Later Cherokee SJ will fit.

Yep, 74-91 J10, Cherk and Waggy front shackles will work on a J20.

Standard stamped FSJ shackles for a 74+ FSJ will work. They are not as heavy duty, but they will bolt in place.
