A ZJ hitch wont work unless you cut it in half and add 1.2 inch of 3.16th steel to it.. And tbh i wouldnt trust the hitch after that.
The wagoneer hitch i have is an older drawtight i believe where you have to drill mounting holes in the frame.. Its cut and welded up at an angle on the ends to be flush with the frame..
Thanks for the info. Do you have a part number for that wag hitch? I work at a trailer place but the only option i found was a universal weld together style or MAYBE a late 2000s GM. I eventually want to buy a dump trailer since i can get a good discount there. I need a hitch that can handle about 10k

I dont sadly.. its solid as a rock but its all lightly surface rust coated so any stickers it had are gone.. but i know its a drawtight and beefy as hell.. Has to be a 6500+ lbs hitch.
They dont make em anymore though. The only one who makes the hitch i know of is BJs offroad.
But like everything on bjs its overpriced big time.. I think they want 350$ for it.. which is a joke. Personally id never shop at bjs due to their greed on prices.
Took me a year ina half to find a non rusted wagoneer hitch.. Usually they are completetly eatin away.. or they are those tiny 3500 lbs class 2 or 3 hitchs.
Where are you located if your closeby i might sell it Im in Virginia

Im in upstate NY. Where i live you rarely see FSJs unless you drive through bumf**k, and even then if you spot one its eroding into the earth. Boneyards around here crush everything older than 10-15 years so trying to find parts is nearly impossible. If it werent for the internet my truck would be like the rest of them sadly
I have found about 7 wagoneers from 82 up including 1 2 door cheroke the other day.
They pop up in salvage yards every 3-4 months here it seems.
Ive seen two driving around here.. 1 of em was ironicly accross the street when i met my previous owner at a shopping center lol.. The other was about 5 miles down the road but that one wasnt running.
Mine is the only fsj ive seen on the road around here.. and i daily drive it. Had alot of rust on it had to do alot of cutting welding and painting trust me lol.

It was 1986 when I moved to SW FL from TX. I would be flat towing a Rambler Marlin behind my 81 J10. Even then, a class 3 or 4 hitch was difficult to locate for Jtrucks. I found a cheap one on a Waggy at the scrap yard and had a friend weld it on after making some mods. It was my quick, cheap way out and towed like a champ.

That sounds about right. I was just telling another jeeper, a young guy in his mid 20’s, about how there’s usually a lot of fabrication, mild to wild, required with FSJ ownership unless you have deep pockets.
Here are a few Screen shot’d pics from my photobucket account- Grand Cherokee Hitch Mod for a 1963 Wagoneer Panel Delivery.

The more common a vehicle is, the easier it is to find used and new parts.
I thought I posted in this thread already...I looked through it and I guess not.
