My New-to-me 1975 J-10

Post by drfronkonstein »

4.2L I6, 4x4, 3-speed on the floor, basically all original except for wear out parts. Missing a few pieces here and there, just slightly rough around the edges. At some point in it's past it was sprayed in John Deere Green. Plan on doing a solid tune and touch up this winter.

Been having a blast with it. I've recently moved and it's hauled appliances for me as well. Definitely getting addicted!

Thanks!

Cool ... quite similar to my '77.

I wonder if it's the original bed. I thought that the first year for the plastic filler recess was 1978. What's the VIN? Does the number on the frame match the VIN?

Good catch Tim. 78 was the first year for the plastic around the fuel filler. Even with the poor lighting, the bed looks a different shade of green. Maybe it was swapped out?

I have no idea. I will take a look at the VIN and let you know! Is there a way to date the truck by the VIN?

Thank you

I've just been running around with it! It's now in my garage, gotta drill out an exhaust bolt that snapped. Somebody replaced the stud with a bolt. Annoying. Anyway, I will also do a full fluids change and go through the whole thing. Something with the power steering is leaking. I also plan to go over all the rust spots and spray paint new John Deere green on it and clean it up. There is some wiring gremlins to take care of, also. This on top of my new house and 2 other classic cars... so yeah, fun!
