Wife said my early B-day present is this... I've used it several times and it's the easiest, highly effective flaring tool I've tried. That's why I asked about the line size because I'd like to order the tubing when I order the tool.derf wrote:Oh, and do yourself a favor and invest in a quality flaring tool. The cheap ones you get from the parts store or harbor freight suck.
I use this and it makes perfect flares every time: https://www.amazon.com/Ridgid-23337-345 ... B001HWKZLO
Actually, I think it's this one: It has the quality cutting tool and a good case with it: https://www.amazon.com/Ridgid-Flaring-C ... 2CEE6CQ9J4
I'm sure that's wrong. Except for the early 4-cylinder Jeeps, Jeeps have a 5/16" line from the fuel tank, and a 1/4" line return. The brake line is all 3/16" except for the lines from the master cylinder to the combination valve. Note this is the diameter of the tubing, not the size of the flare nuts.derf wrote:Fuel supply line should be 3/8" ID. The return line might be 5/16 or 3/8. I don't remember for sure.
The brake lines I just replaced on my rear axle (going from the T to the wheel cylinders on the axle itself) is 5/16". I'm not sure if the main lines from the proportioning valve to the connection points on the frame are 3/8 or 5/16.
Buick powered Jeeps have a 3/8" feed and a 1/4" return.tgreese wrote:derf wrote:Fuel supply line should be 3/8" ID. The return line might be 5/16 or 3/8. I don't remember for sure.

That seems plausible. When I posted I was going to write that, in my experience, only the big GM V8s of the 70s got 3/8" lines. The 350 is not "big" but it is GM from that era, and part of a big car family. I'm just too young to know that much about the 350 Jeeps!Kaiserman wrote:Buick powered Jeeps have a 3/8" feed and a 1/4" return.tgreese wrote:derf wrote:Fuel supply line should be 3/8" ID. It's kind of odd that a 2bbl Buick 350 needs a 3/8" line, while a 4bbl 454 uses a 5/16". Seems to be a Buick thing I guess.tgreese wrote:That seems plausible. Thanks CK.Charles Kline wrote:I've got the rear brake line (that runs along the frame) sitting in my carport, you can have it if you want.
