Quadra trac transfer case spring & ball

Post by ColeTrickle »

I'm hoping my friend fulsizjeep sees this as he is who I consider as being Dr. QuadraTrac!

I'm looking for the size of the spring and diameter of the ball that keeps the vacuum shift fork engaged.

Also, from what I've read, it seems that the spring rides on the rod and the ball is compressed beneath the cover. Can this be? Seems the ball would ride in the groove on the rod.

Thanks for the replies.

I can't help you on the ball and spring dimensions but can tell you that yes, the cover compresses the spring and ball. The ball rides in the shaft and drops into the detents. Kinda cheesy but works very well.

I would check out http://www.jubileejeeps.org/quadratrac/. You may find what you are after there. Its the best site I know of for info on the quadra trac. There is a contact option as well. It's info@jubileejeeps.org. You should be able to find what you need there. Good luck

There is a little spring and ball that hold the shift fork in engaged/disengaged via a detent. It is only held by the diaphragm shaft. The shaft is held in place by a spring only that is compressed by the vent cover into a groove rather than a detent. You can (and should) remove the cover without the detent ball and spring flying out. Hope that makes sense.

I went to a hobby shop and found a spring. I used a steel slingshot ball that is 1/4".

Wish me luck that it works...or holds!
