Did the truck originally come with a different t-case? The 229 and 208 are different lengths.

The i6 and V8 did use different length shafts also. So quite a few variables that could result in the front shaft not fitting.

As to the transfer case it is the one that came out of the truck. There is a inch difference in the over all length between the T17* and NP208 and the NV3500 NP208 from where the bellhousing bolts up and the rear output on the transfer case. Must have just had more slip on the rear shaft than I realized. Both the V8 and the 6cyl trucks I have had exactly the same length shafts (may not be the case with all of them). I have measured because I was going to use whichever ones were closer to the length I needed.

Fan I am using.

Ford contour fan or mercury mystique fits about perfect Dorman 620-104. I am using the original 258 radiator as I haven't laid hands on a V8 radiator support. I have a V8 radiator and they are wider so this setup wouldn't work without some modification.

How much did those speed hut gauges set you back?

Also I'm using a stock 79 Cherokee 6 cyl radiator in front of a 5.3 vortec. It keeps it at 199 deg so far

I bought the gauges on during the black Friday sale and saved about 20%. They still cost about $500 for the three. I have them in my Cherokee and in my CJ 6. I am a big fan.

Had Rick and his family had your Jeep instead of the stock one they had it would likely still be in the show.

That is a reference to The Walking Dead for those scratching their head

Mine is lifted. Just a narrow track so 4" doesn't go as far. It's also currently filthy as it is also my daily driver.

I ended up swapping a newer front clip on from a v8 truck and got a v8 radiator. The inline radiator and electric fan were not cutting it. So far the v8 radiator and clutch fan have kept it at 180.

I recently bought a winch bumper off another member here, and in anticipation of its arrival I pulled out my old 8274 to get it up to snuff. I got it in a trade with a guy that had it sitting outside under a tractor trailer for the last 6 or so years. Instead of unbolting it from the previous vehicle he had removed mount and all and left it bolted up. I went to unbolt it and all four bolts broke :banghead: . Took me a while but I managed to drill them all out without widening any of the original holes. Now I am scared to take it further apart because of what I may find. These are the pictures after I knocked off some mud and swept once...

It didn't get any better unfortunately...

Motor bolts are not offering to turn at all. I took the clutch loose and looked inside and surprisingly the gears I could see looked brand spanking new. Hoping I can get the bolts out.. If not I guess Ill grind off the heads and turn them out with some vise grips after I pull the motor.

Image

Oh and I respoded to a want ad for a shortbed and the guy is coming to get mine tomorrow or Sunday. I didn't really think it would sell so quick. I guess I will be driving it in and out of the garage on a 5 gal gas can until I can get the junk pile that is my sport-side bed fixed and ready to bolt on.

Oh and if anyone has been following along since the beginning you may have noticed a huge 3500 square foot shop that held all kinds of jeeps and tools. I sold my business and now I have a one bay detached to work in that I can barely walk around the truck. Still hunting a job so I do have lots of time to work on my jeeps...
