Replacement sheet metal panels. Quality/Availability

Post by MidTNJasonF »

The truck I have picked up has some more rust than I would like.

The hole in the door skin is not a significant issue. The inner skins and frames are solid.

The floor boards are easy enough to replace. Can anyone comment on the quality and fit of these ?http://www.c2cfabrication.com/collectio ... ator-parts Does it stretch fully to the back corners of the cab? Mine has a two holes just inside the back and side walls of the cab. I would likely just get the full panel of both and put them in.

One rocker has rot as well so the panel from the link above is likely to go in as well. Has anyone used one and is it long enough to stretch from the back of the cab to the front edge of the cab/door?

Anyone make reproduction fenders? The passenger fender spent a little time getting personal with a tree while in the care of the previous owner. It was banged out most of the way but has rusted and is still wrinkled.

Does anyone make any sheet metal panels for the bed sides or does everyone just make up there own from sheet there?

Most concerning is the drivers side A pillar, or windshield pillar if you will, has some rot. I would be concerned that I might find a bit more once trim is off and the windshield is out. This one would be difficult to reproduce I think. I did not find it commercially available in my searches. Anyone have a source or solution? I would hate to have to do a cab swap but keeping everything square and straight well enough for the windshield reinstall and seal could be a challenge if I just cut out the pillar and welded in a replacement.

Somewhere here is a thread in which someone rebuilt the A pillar and did an awesome job. I'll try and find the thread

Ouch, That pillar looks like it would be beyond my skill level. I have been known to pull off some ok fab work but that is a bunch of layers to line up and bend correctly.

I think a Cab swap is in my future.

I got what you need in northern ky. 64 cab, small window very nice condition with a soft ball size hole in the floor board. Comes with the matching doors and a brand new headliner not installed. I also have decent short bed from a 67 j200. Also have front fenders and inner fenders from the same truck as the bed.

definitely. HOOT is good people and one of the most ardent FSJ scavengers I've ever met. He scours the southwest and mountain regions annually. Keeps us Coloradans on our toes making sure he doesn't smuggle out a 401.
