So alternator issues aside, It was a nice weekend. I went camping, fishing, met a few new FSJ people, said hi to everybody at the trail head, then went home.
Jeep ran flawlessly up into the mountains and over all the passes (regardless of the busted bracket).

Great trip. Good people and good times. I had some issues but they are more or less fixing some mistakes I made in the suspension swap. no big except two new shocks will have to wait for funds from some fictitious, nonexistent FSJ donor. Sonora pass is a killer of all vehicles. I'll post some pics for all that are interested.

Not that I don't like road trips but maybe somewhere closer to Reno?
Are there any longer trails than Geiger toll road that head up to Virginia city or any cool places like that?

With or without me and my Jeep, the offer to provide a semi-difficult wheeling loop and overnight camp out up on my property near Pyramid Lake is still there. For years the men in my family would go up on the 30th and spend the night. For the last 17 years it has snowed there on Halloween Day!
Maybe a spring trip is in order?

I'm in though I can not provide any trail suggestions. Closer is nice however.

We could do signal peak in cisco grove up off highway 80 its closer to Reno than the last two trips, and if you really want to mash up your rig you can do the Fordyce creek trail but being high elevation it would have to be before the snow starts or after it melts.

Unless you are rocking 37's, stay far away from Fordyce i an FSJ
All forest roads close Dec 15 regardless of snow depth except the designated winter roads. Won't reopen until June once snow is gone and roads are dry enough. So any planning will have to keep that in mind. I'd say we are in but I'll wait till last minute so I don't curse myself again. No problem making a run to Reno area. We have some grand nieces to see any way.
Dr. M may have to bust out a map book and start following roads. My friends that hunt that area only know of your basic desert roads that wander all over the place.
I'd be game for a wrench day if somebody needs one.
