I just realized there’s a post missing - the explanation behind the crack in the head. Weird.

I couldn't see the picture. Now I can.

Yeah - I was responding to the first post with the explanation. The crack is not good, but I don't know what else to do that would not require spending a bunch of money. See if it runs.

If it doesn't leak water badly, run it. I drove an AMC 360 for thousands of miles with cracks above the lower bolt bosses. Coolant boogers formed but never any other problems.

Thanks guys. I’ve got it all back together, minus timing cover as I need to order a new one. Hoping for the best.

There are a couple of guys on earlycj5.com that know quite a lot about these engines and the 215s. You might post up there and see what comments you get.
