Another update on the axle search.
I also have access to the axles from an Early Bronco.

So what would you prefer, The disk brakes from a wagoneer, or the stronger 9 inch from a bronco

Sounds like you should buy it and ls swap the drivetrain for a reliable DD, and put in a set of j-truck axles.

An LS swap is out of the question until I finish school.
Wasn't me in the Cherokee, however if you saw a 2015 mustang with a giant American flag decal on the rear window weaving in and out of traffic, that would have been me.

OK I guess it was a good thing I didn't honk at them after all! We just accidentally ended up going down 70 I missed the turn up onto I-25 to go down to I-10 and onto Deming.

Sadly last year my grandmother passed away from brain cancer, and I was left $8000 in her will. Around the same time I took an internship in Texas 12 hours away. Midway through my internship, my DD (a Chevy cobalt) started acting up so I decided to use my inheritance for a down payment on a new car. While shopping around I found the mustang and fell in love.

Sorry to hear of your loss.

Mine is a '16 EB/6sp. Great daily driver and easily gets 30+ mpg on the HWY. But still quick enough to be fun.

If it is like the 4.0 in the Explorer yeah they will get up and run. Wanted to pass a line of trucks down in TX stood on it as I slid in front of the truck in front I looked down at the speedometer and we were doing 120. MPH and the motor was still winding, not bad for and SUV with 150K on the clock!
I have been thinking it would make a cool swap into my Commando!

Well supposedly the V6 mustang will do 120 but last month I did 130 between Cruces and Albuquerque, and she felt like she would do more, but I was coming up on a tight turn and bad weather so I backed off.

The old 4.0 only had 200hp. The current 3.7L makes 300hp.

They sound great with a good exhaust.

Got to look at the donor Blazer today. It has a th350 and np203 tcase.
They could use a cleaning but dont look too terrible (on the outside atleast)

I took the best pics I could but didnt have much room to work with.

Now Im just waiting on the guy with the willys to let me know if they got it moving, and for someone to buy the #@!%$@ Fiesta Im stuck driving currently.

Side note, how hard/expensive would it be to add a powersteering pump and box to the truck? I know I could go to a junkyard and rip the pump from an old chevy truck or blazer and bolt in onto the sbc 350, but how hard is the rest of it to set up?

New update.
After talking to the seller again, the trans is shot.
My wife and I have decided we cant sell a running DD in order to buy a not running truck.
HOWEVER, my mother in law happens to have a 1948 International KB2, sitting on the farm that hasnt been touched in more than 20 years, that I now has permission to play with and restore.

Everything is original, from a 70HP motor, to the hub caps. Here is the blasphemous part. In its original configuration these trucks struggle to get to 50-55MPH, So I am planning to ditch the pristine numbers matching drive train, and replace it with something a bit more modern. I am currently debating between an SBC due to the ease of the swap and the availability of parts, a v8 engine from a scout- to keep everything within the international company, or possibly a Cherokee 4.0 because I like them, or maybe just maybe if my wife will let me spend the money a 4bt.

For rear axles I am considering a d44, d60, or possibly a 9 inch.

Trans depends on the engine, but if I go 4bt or 350 Im thinking an nv4500, if a 4.0 Ill use an ax15, if I use the scout engine Ill use whatever trans it comes with ( I dont know scouts too well)

Otherwise the only things I need to do are: update the suspension, reupholster the bench, paint, better brakes, possibly power steering, add turn signals, box the frame, put a stereo in the glovebox,

I think I have a new project for the foreseeable future

I'm leaning towards the 350. My next dilemma is should I put a front axle in, or update with mustang 2 front suspend. If I go with the mustang front end I will try tit find a t56, if I use a front axle I'll try to find an nv4500 if not I'll use a simple th350.
