Hello all. New guy here.

Post by mac9902 »

Hello everyone. I am MAC. I just joined in the last few days. The other cool thing is I just took ownership of a free 1978 Cherokee. The bad news is it a pile. The entire driver side "flaps" when I close the door. I think it will need a whole new set of floor pans and rockers. What I would like to know is if there was any inner structure between the outer quarters and the floor pans. If so this thing might be toast. I drug it out of an Iowa corn field where it sat for 13 years. I want to see if I can awaken the beast any tips on what to check and do before I attempt to start the old dog? I love the site and look forward to learning a lot. I will post pics of the beast in the next few days.

Welcome!

There are some floor braces that go across under the floor. They kind of tie into the rockers. But the floor was not double walled in that is what you are asking.

After reading your description of your ride I thought you were painting a word picture of my rig... until now I thought it was a pretty nice ride? Guess I own a PILE as well? Welcome to the network, lots of good experience and advice here so do some searching and get a feel for the forum and then post away. :-bd

MT1, I am sure you have a very nice ride. All FSJ's are right? This thing is a hot mess though. BJ's is about to get a cash infusion from me. LOL :banghead:

I am just outside of Peoria. So I would say depending where in "Chicago" you are anywhere from 3 to 3.5 hours. I may be up that way in the near future. The in-laws are paying for my family to take a small trip up there. We wanna go to the Museum of Science and Industry. Any suggestions on places to stay/eat/go would cool.

We're in the far NW suburbs, just north of Elgin. As far as neat places to go, we've only been up here a little more than 4 years and aside from the car show, don't go to Chicago.

Not much help on the tourism side of things.

The museums would probably be a good place to start, and as far as I know, most of them are free...it's the parking that kills you!

We have been to Navy Pier, but that would be a cold place to visit this time of year!
