oil drain plug gasket, which one do you recommend

Post by letank »

Aaaaack, I tried the fiber, the plastic, but they are all not exactly fitted for my drain plug.... I was lucky a few years back with some crushable copper ones but cannot find them anymore. So.... in order to eliminate one more drip.... what do you recommend?

Last time a dab of teflon paste worked a bit longer....

Working one leak at a time.

Thank you

Have you not been able to find a rubber/poly washer? Most newer vehicles have a poly washer that works well. My J10 still has a copper one and it also works well, although I am not sure where to buy them anymore.

Not seen the rubber, I tried a few poly but they are not fitting really well. The copper works best.... may be aluminum is the next step.... I'll try to see if any of the motorbike could be a good substitute...

iirc the drainplug I just got from BJ's comes with the crush washer. I think it was $3.

I have had best luck with brass or copper washer on the drain plug.

Depending what size the threads are, I use Napa BK 704-1953 Image which is 9/16" or 14 mm ID rubber and aluminum.

There are other sizes too.
