I found on IFSJA where a first gen dakota tonneau cover will work on the j10/j20 long bed, but what type can i use for my regular (7') bed? What have you used or seen that works good? the inside measurements are roughly 83" x 57". Haven't been able to find another truck with the same dimensions that would be compatible either.
from what i understand there was a factory option for both. i was hoping to locate something decently priced and fabricating it to work with the rollbar. of course i need to find a rollbar still.
I have seen a photo of a factory option from the 80's. Betting they are very rare. Today, it would have to be custom as Jeep beds are not only 7ft, but they also have a non-standard width.
I had 3 NOS Whitco Jeep SE tonneau covers I got from an ex-AMC employee that pulled them out of a dumpster after Chryco bought AMC along with some other NOS parts. They were all for the long bed and I have a short bed so I sold them.

I am sure he would tell you where he got it.
Most boat upholstery shops deal with the heavy material, and can make one to fit.
Just my thoughts...
What he said ^^^^^^
Besides you could probably have it customized to your liking as well. I had a NOS Jeep cover once. Sold it. They aren't nothing special unless you are going for absolute restore.
If you want something "out of the box" try finding one for a Ford Ranger with the 7ft. bed. I hear it is about the same dimensions. Not sure on what year. Measure and compare.. Get back to us...
