My 82 j10 with the 208 dashboard 4wheel light won't go on. I pulled the dash, changed the bulb, nothing. Tested w/ voltmeter and it's reading hot when in 4x4, just can't get a bulb to light up in there. Any ideas?
Well the light will have 12v+ to it anytime the key is on.
The switch on the transfer case simply grounds the light. So when you shift into 4x4, the switch closes the circuit and illuminates the light.
You need to test continuity from the dash light to the switch. If that is good, remove the switch and test that it makes continuity when you depress the switch.
