Getting the 71 blasted

Post by Kaiserman »

Dropped it off this morning to one of our customers. He is a commercial sand blaster. His compressor (diesel powered on a trailer) is the size of my truck.

Pulled off everything I could, and we lifted the flat bed off with his old Clark fork lift. Now it's just a bare bed and a bare frame. He's going to blast both, epoxy prime and epoxy paint them black sometime this week.

Originally told me $2-300. Then said $3-350 earlier this week. Then after is was apart said $3-400. So, not sure how much of a deal I'm getting now. I also owe him a favor now apparently. So from $200 to $400 and a favor. Be interesting to see how much this is going to run me.

Oh well, if he charges too much he's going to have to take payments because I had figured on the $300 he originally told me.

I always get a bit learing when the price changes multiple times. But hopefully the quality of his work makes up for any price hikes.

I want to get mine blasted someday, I just hope there will be enough of it left by the time I can since I'm in the rust capitol. I'll have mine por-15 and rhino lined afterwards though so I never have to worry about it again.

Especially when it changes after the truck is all apart at his place. Hopefully it comes out good. I could have blasted and painted it myself, but the $2-300 he initially told me was to good of a deal to pass on.

Turned out to be $350 plus I'm tuning up his fork truck. He's buying the parts.

I need to sand the runs out of the sides of the bed and he's going to re-shoot it. He has a tough time getting paint into the pockets and ended up making some runs. Looks good though. He also painted the wood floor. The bed is back on the truck. Needs to sit about a week he said and it will be good and hard. Then I'll hit it with my air board.
