HEI problems.

Post by Locked and Loaded »

I have a 258 with HEI. It started up. I backed up. It died. Now I get no spark. I have power to the Dist. I thouhgt bad coil so I replaced it. Still no spark. The Dist. does turn. What do I check next? And how do I check it?

Get a new ignition module for the base, under the rotor. Get a good quality one, Delco or such if possible...

So this is a fresh HEI installation?.

If yes, then I bet the ignition module (in the dizzy) overheated and burn up. Or was just bad to begin with. When installing the module, you are supposed to put that paste stuff on the there to help dissipate the heat.

That goo is heat sink paste. I am thinking module too. We carry a Borg Warner spare in the glove box.

I've had this on a couple years. I will pickup an ignition module today and see what happens. Thanks.
