1973 V8 Emblem Colors

I have seen this emblem both ways. Blue-White-Red, and Red-White-Blue. Does one color always go towards the front of the vehicle? Or was one or the other just paint wrong? Im redoing mine, and have gotten myself confused as to what is correct.

I have only one ref for both sides.
What i have seen so far is red toward front for passenger side and blue toward front driver side, same emblem

AMC typically had the red up front and blue in back on their race cars. Would make sense that these would match that.

Thanks guys. Well, they probably aren’t correct now, but at least they are painted. Not like my rig is very factory accurate... hah!

They were used on the V8 CJ-5 and Commando '72 and '73. Factory sales literature should show them. The original badges are in high demand, and they are being reproduced for a dear price, IIRC. Looking through pics of '72 and '73 Jeeps, all are blue-white-red (as above) as far as I can tell. Jeep PN 986182, same left and right.
