New Jeep yesterday, joined today!

Post by 4XJeff »

My name is Jeff and I just wanted to introduce myself. I just picked up my first Full Size Jeep yesterday (previously had a CJ7 and a TJ) a 1982 Cherokee 2 door 258, 4 speed man. There is some rust, valve cover leaks, door locks keep locking when I shut the doors, and a lot of other stuff! LOL. I always wanted a full size and I will probably ask too many questions but just searching the forum the last few days before I joined showed answered to all my questions! It's nice to see others have already tackled all my problems before and posted a lot of ago info. Thanks!

An 80's narrow track cherokee 2dr is a pretty uncommon configuration. Lot more wide tracs were sold.

Welcome to the forum.

That is cool - I like it! It'll go lots of places - don't be afraid to drive it like a Jeep!

Doors locking when you shut the door are the spring on the door locks... take the door pabels off and look for a tiny 1 loop spring. They might be broken.. those springs hold the locks up

I've already started a list for a BJ's order;
Door Lock Springs, Aluminum valve cover to fix the leak, lower q-panels left and right to fix the rust. Also looking into a new 2150 carb and reading up on the "nutter" bypass. So much info on the site I'll be bust for a long time! LOL
