Awesome commercial, but so sad to see a very good looking Gladiator get crushed.

from the description: "This inoperable 1963 Jeep Gladiator depicted here was sourced via an online scrap sales site. We wish we could have driven it while it was still alive! "

I hope they stopped it before they ruined the grill.

The truck looked incredibly straight, and it had less rust than a lot of peoples trucks on here.

The idea behind the commercial is fine, but can't say agree with destroying the old truck.

Agreed. But cool how they paid respect to the namesake and their heritage. They only began crushing it, then the Gladiator crushed back, so I was ok with it then.

I need to find that scrap site, apparently it is in an airtight dehumidified alternate universe somewhere. I never come across any that aren't 1000lbs lighter than the original curb weight due to lack of metal

While it’s a strong commercial, I still have a sick feeling in my stomach. No Jeep that straight deserves a death like that.

Here in NY even the brand new trucks are rust buckets after a few years. This new stuff they put on the roads in the winter is like acid. Its really unnecessary. Sand worked just fine. Hell, I would even be ok with salt before this magnesium chloride sh!t. You can literally watch your sheetmetal disintegrate from it. 2 years ago I had a XJ with mint rockers in September and by March they were swiss cheese. Even with weekly washes

It's possible that they took a rust bucket, slapped some bondo on it and gave it a quick paint job. This is probably what happened. They may have even used the same color paint as the new truck.

Off topic, but thats a reason to buy an F150, aluminum doesn't rust, and unlike say, GM, the frames are e-coated (GM wax coats their frames).

Well, it is a lie about it being a 1963 gladiator. My argument:

It's not a gladiator bumper.
The 63 gladiator did not have side lights.
The hood doesn't fit right with the Gladiator grill, there is a gap. I put a Gladiator grill on my 83 and I have the same gap.
The interior shot shows seat belts. In fact, shoulder belts. Probably not an option in 1963
The interior shot shows gauges and a steering wheel from a later model. (proof positive)
The recessed gas filler was not used in 1963 (proof positive)
On the drivers fender there are no holes for the 'jeep' emblem at the top front of the fender, but there are holes on the fender just in front of the door.

Other indicators:
An antenna
The mirrors
The drip rail looks wrong to me

Okay, you guys have a better eye than me and know more about these trucks, what else is wrong and can we guess the actual year?

I’ll have to watch it again when I’m not so worn out. I thought when it was being lifted into the crusher I saw different light patterns. Like one second it had a small window and the next it was a regular size one....

CGI touchup of the thing can make a very rusty Jeep look nearly pristine.
