Need wagoneer tailgate information
I recently bought a 72 wagoneer that has a damaged tailgate, I have located a tailgate off of an 86 and was wondering if it would even fit before I drive 2 hours round trip to get it. any help will be appreciated

The latches changed during 79 model year.
To use an 86 tailgate it will need modification to latches to work on a 72.

It will, but the latches don't just interchange.
Meaning you'll need to modify the tailgate latch mounting positions and reuse the older style 72 latches.
