Advice on selling a 79 J10!

Post by Treadted2 »

Hello Forum,

I recently inherited this 79 Jeep and as cool as it would be to have it for myself, it's just not practical for me as I am in LA and the truck is in GA... so I need to get rid of it. Having trouble pinning down a reasonable value to price it at and what the best method would be to find a buyer. Anyone have advice? Here are some pics and info:

it's a 79 J10, 4 speed, 38k original miles, new motor. It runs pretty well. Body has some issues. Needs a paint job and some rust removal.

From what I can see from looking around a bit, I'm think it's worth maybe around $10k? I do have someone local to the truck that is offering $7k... but that seems a little low to me.

Would appreciate any thoughts!

My advice.. Don't do it! haha. Find someone who really loves the truck and sell it to them. How much time do you have to sell it? You only have to sell it once so you can wait for a buyer. I don't normally price J10's so I can't tell you if 7K or 10K is the right number. It's a nice looking truck but 10K seems a bit steep to me. If it was a Honcho it might be worth it. Good Luck with Sale!

I know I know! I wish I could keep it. But I live in the LA area and just don't have the space or use for it. Thanks for the input.

$7000 is very generous for that truck IMO. They don't go for the kind of prices that Wagoneers do. Not comparable. I would offer substantially less, if I were in the market.

If it were me, I'd take the $7K and call it a good day.
