Rear Window Anti Rattle/Squeak Idea

So I have been meaning to get a rear window/tailgate kit for sometime now. Seems my finances are always going to something more critical. I have been using cardboard to keep the squeaks and rattles down, but I had to replace the cardboard often and always had to hold it in place when raising the window back up.

So I was thinking I needed to replace the cardboard once again when I decided I would try to make a window track with some left over indoor/outdoor carpeting that I had laying around. It has worked so well I think I may never purchase a rear window/tailgate kit....not that I probably would anyway.

So I had already posted this in my build thread, but thought I would share here too. Hope this helps some of you guys out there in my same situation. George.

I guess I should mention that I have a manual crank style window. It was quite stiff the first few times I rolled it up so if you have a electric window it might be difficult for it to roll up. With time it has gotten a lot better.

Now that’s a great idea. I’ll have to give this one a try.

Thanks! It has been working out great, so much better than the cardboard that I was using.

Just a update....The window is rolling up and down pretty easy now. I think a good electric motor would work fine now.
