Tailgate part help

Post by loganobrien121 »

Hey guys,

I've FINALLY finished all the major work on my blue waggy and am driving her around again so now I can turn my attention to the more minor annoyances: chiefly, the tailgate and it's rattling. I think I located the problem but I don't know exactly what to call the part in question so bear with me:

On each side of the tailgate there are these circular pieces that are under spring tension and are what the tailgate latches into when you close it. My driver's side one is busted- it spins freely while the pass. side one stays/returns to place. So when I close the tailgate I have to give it a few more nudges to get the driver's side closed. But even with that, it still rattles when I drive because it's loose.

Do you guys know what part that is and if it's possible to find a replacement or repair it? I'm coming up dry but also don't know exactly what it is I'm looking for.

Sorry if that's vague nonsense, I just don't know how else to describe it and my camera is currently cracked. :(
Thanks!
