Tune up time

Post by toothofwar »

So I had the pleasure of doing the first tune up on the 79 since the tbi upgrade. Boy did I confuse the crap out of the guy at advanced auto parts. I found a cross reference for everything but the rotor button. All of the ones I found was too short, or too small of a hole. But the one I had looked new, so I'll wait till next time to change it. Went with an 85-95 Thunderbird cap, early 90s f150 5.0 wires, and ngk plugs. I always use acdelco plugs but they were out and these was the same price, so I figured I'd give them a shot. Gapped them to .050. I like the wires due to them being at a 45 at the plug end. Fits nice. Oh, and it's always a good day when I have my little buddy helping. Teach them young, it pays off in the long run for the both of you. Image

I have gotten the same looks before when asking for 5 parts from 5 different vehicles, but say they are all being used on the same vehicle :P

How did the 5.0 wires work for length? I have previously used Buick 350 wires and they worked pretty well.

Number 8 was a little tight. These had the 45 degree angle on the plug side that works very nice.
