Chrome paint

Post by Walter »

Anyone ever tried any of the chrome paints on the market to respray a chrome plated plastic grille? Likes and dislikes?

It never really shines. Its more of a dull gloss.

I agree with Jaber it also rubs off on your hand when you touch it. I had tried to spray a clear coat over it but it just messed it up even more (made it gray).

So, if I have a chrome plated plastic grille and an aluminum grill and they are both in need of some attention. What would you consider the best route to refurbish. Plastic vs aluminum. I like the plastic because it is original. Tried to start polishing the aluminum grille but I was not getting very much for results. I got a little shine but it tended to show off the many scratches instead of looking better it tended to look worse. The plastic grille has a crack that I repaired but it shows up. Was wondering about painting over to cover the crack but I was afraid it would just look panted silver like you guys suggested. What are they refinishing the chrome colored arm rest surrounds with?
