65 panel

Post by jaber »

Not sure what I'm going to do with it yet, but this just fell into my lap, so I drug it home. Originally a 327 / t-18 combo. The guy I got it from had his own vision and its going to need a lot of work. Basically bought a rolling chassis.

Enough chat, here's what you clicked to see...

Yah, he took most of an 83 Cherokee, including doors and swapped them in. It is a real basket case. Wish it had barn doors...

What to do?

Step one: keep.it away from anyone at JP magazine.
Step two: whatever you want.

Hahaha, Classic. That’ll never get old.

Nice score Jaber! Does it have the seams for panel doors, or is it a factory tailgate?

I honestly don't know yet, and will have to go back and search for the details to compare to...
Do you still have the set on your wall?

I was looking for pics of my panel (sold last summer) and I didn’t have detailed pics of the barn door frames.

IIRC there were two hinges per side that screwed into the side. All in all, very similar to a standard Wag build in terms of the wagoneer door frame assembly.

If it did have barn doors at one point it will have the slots where the hinges would’ve been.

Yeah, it’s still hanging on my wall, lol, I need to change some lightbulbs on it apparently.

Judging by the rear window channel, I’d say it was not the barn door version. The barn door version had the window channel seam sealed with a plug.

Nonetheless, it’s a great score.

The tinsel adds a nice touch...maybe it became a clubhouse or something in the back there? I like the truck a lot though. Good score!

Needs a stripper pole and disco ball to finish up the interior.

A panel with a 327 ? They generally got a 6 cylinders, it's a rare bird, congrats ! Do you have the VIN, engine number ?

Is that some sort of custom grill or some conglomeration of multiple fsj grills. I like the 4 light look, just needs refined.

I haven't looked up the VIN yet, so I don't know any details. The 327 could have been a transplant, I'll ask the guy I got it from.

The grill was something he was building. Not my cup-o-tea so it'll go away...

Well, got to take a second to look at it and got a little excited. The holes for barn doors are there. That'll make mounting much easier. Even better if I could afford to talk 66 out of his...
And a pic of the VIN.
