Duckblind will have AC soon!!

Post by HowardT64 »

I have a new AC compressor coming!! should be here tomorrow:) Now I still have the power steering unit to put in and the power valve. Mechanics around here are INSANELY high on prices. I can understand making some money but dayum! AND since I cannot find anyone to lend a hand...( a guy here said he would twice and never did) Ill just do it myself, may take me a bit. I will get the power valve done first. Then power steering, then the AC. Ill have to find the fittings for the R134...which I can charge myself. I have tools...just going to take some trips up and down the stairs...hope my back is up to it.

:) :-bd :fsj:

Don't forget to get the correct amount of oil in the system. The pump probably came with oil in it. If the system hasn't been flushed you need to account for the oil trapped in the condenser and evaporator, drain the pump and add back in the correct amount.

If the system had R12 you need to flush the old oil

A new accumulator is going in, right?

evacuate the system and hope that it is holding vacuum! you can get a vacuum pump loaner from autozone... and iirc even the manifold.

going to get a new accumulator...the system was converted over to R134 already. The pump had some literature in the box stating it had the correct amount of oil in the compressor. I need another can of 134 and the accumulator then I should be golden. Just need ot find someone to help me put it in:) I have a Haynes manual...if I have to do it all :) I am excited :)

Just ordered a new accumulator ...postage and cost of part 15.70$...from RockAuto :) Now to find a nice diagram that will show me how the brackets mount for the AC and I should be good to go :) Same for the power steering :)

It makes sense that you would want ducktape for a Duckblind.

The shop called...compressor is in and running...but for some reason, no cold air is coming out. You folks have any ideas? They said check back tomorrow. They want to figure this out...

Sounds like a blockage in the freon system. I once found a piece of paper towel in a FSJ condenser that was preventing flow. It wasn't my paper towel because I used red rags back then. It was dumb luck that I found it at the first connection I opened. It made nice cold air after a couple more cans of R12.

They said they would flush the system. Maybe they should do it again? It had been converted to R134...
