Trying to piece together all the pieces of my steering column. I have my shop manual, but I feel like I’m missing something. How are these pieces aligned? Is there a bushing that should be in between the two? If some one has pics of the engine bay of how their column is set up for the T85 trans, I’d be ever grateful.
Thanks Zack. I was looking at my manual too, and it just doesn’t make sense to me that there isn’t a bushing to separate these two. I thought I put them in at the correct orientation, but maybe not.
I've never messed with a column shifted manual but it looks like the longer lever should be above the shorter. Would it go together that way?

I looked at a book I have for Ford trucks. For what it's worth, it shows the shorter lever nearer the firewall. If you flip the shorter lever over it'll look like what I'm looking at.
This is a drawing not a photo.

I will go look at my wagon tomorrow as it still has the manual column in it. Gotta go there to look for some parts anyway might as well take a few pics of my phone has enough film left in it.
Stumped. I have 1 axis that I can move up (towards the roof) and down (towards the floor) but how do I get the left and right movement (towards me, away from me).
