Door speakers

Post by Phils67 »

Installing 6.5" Infinity Kappa door speakers on my truck which orginally didnt have anything but the single dash speaker and was just wondering how people have routed the speaker wires from the door to the cab. There is no boot between the two and i am looking to get a clean install without any chance of damaging the wires. Suggestions?

There isnt really a boot on my 90 either.. Just some plastic curved shield.. Id just cut a hole into the side of the door.. get a round rubber thingy ( forgot their names) so the hole doesnt cut the wires.. and route it through the fender into the Jeep from the firewall and id just wrap it in electrical tape .. Keep it long enough to ope the door but not long enough so it pinches.

But thats just me

I ended up using zip ties and tying them to the lower hinge, not really happy about it like that but it works until i come up with a better gameplan

F***. Yes! I need those in my life. Side note, also just hooked up Sirius XM in this thing and will never go back

Fwiw, I found a pair of marine speakers at best buy (iirc). They had built in LEDs of several colors. Put them in the Xj and they sounded great. Inexpensive. Water proof. And added a little illumination if I turned them on.

Im using a marine deck but regular speakers. Im ordering boom mat for them though to help protect the back sides from the elements and enhance sound

Nice! Mine has black plastic runners for the wires...but those will go on my list in case I ever need a replacement.

Thanks.

If you drill new holes, make sure to off set them so that the wire naturally just folds out of the way.
