Transmission Cross member compatibility

Post by Prophet159 »

I have a '79 wagoneer with AMC360, TH400 and quadtrac. Will a transmission cross-member from a '73 with the same running gear work with mine?

Also, will a trans cross-member from a '79 J20 work?

Probably. There are changes from year to year, each with a different part number, but its mostly the same from year to year. A cross member from a '76-79 Wagoneer, Cherokee, or J-truck is exactly the same as yours, regardless of drive train. Advertise in the "want to buy" forum.

Edit - probably the '73 will work, the '79 J20 cross member definitely.

Excellent! Thanks for the info. I came across a few on eBay that seemed like decent deals. I went with the J20 is it did look visibly different from the '73.
