Anyone here experimented with applying liner by brush or roller onto diamond plate? I would like to make some cargo area repairs with diamond and finish with liner but I wonder if it will roll on over the diamond. Any advice?
Thanks
As long as you are using a roller is a decent amount of give you should be able to apply it over the bed liner. I have not done it, but I have seen people that have.
Here are some pics of the Duplicolor bed liner in the cargo area of the Cherokee. I reconstructed the panels as one piece (its a 2 door) out of 1/4 plywood and lined it as well and installed with stainless screws and finish washers. I am really pleased with the look of the finish and it is much easier to wipe clean than the Herculiner I used on the outside for the fenders and rocker panel. I was going to use it on the exterior but when I applied it over the new coat of single stage paint it wrinkled and peeled and I had to strip to the metal so I finished with the Herculiner and saved the Duplicolor for the inside.

Thanks. I have fallen in love with the stuff. It hides all sorts of flaws and give a clean smooth even finish all over. Want to use it on the outside of one now.

How does it clean up? We hurculined the inside of my YJ back in high and I hated it. Dirt stuck really bad and was hard to wipe up, took lots and lots of scrubbing. I have used the duplicolor on the inside of a blazer but I don't remember how it cleaned up, not sure I ever tried LOL!
I have the herculiner on the outside fenders and it looks like it will be hard to clean. The duplicolor is much smoother and seems to wipe off with a rag much easier. Only time will tell?
I really like the way the cargo area turned out. That is sweet.
My son just bought a cherokee from a guy that lined the out side of the whole thing 10 years ago. It was a texture type liner and after 10 years in the Az. sun, the high spots are dull and chalky looking and the low spots have worn off (dust blows all summer here) and the original color is showing through. If you rub up against it, it will take skin off of you. It has really made me stop and look.
Jabber,
I agree. The Herculiner is pretty aggressive and is going to be difficult to clean. The duplicolor is more like paint with a heavy texture and rubber density. It coats really well. I had planned on using it on the outside as well. However, much to my dissapointment, when I applied the duplicolor over my single stage paint job it peeled paint off. The duplicolor is not compatible with all paints, especially single stage paints. So, unlike Herculiner, the Duplicolor is not as coarse, covers better, and isUVresistant without additional coatings, but it may not cooperate with a repainted surface.

No longer strangled. I didn't build it for anyone else.
If you can't improve it why waste your time?
I used it over steel diamond plate. Yes, it will need to be scuffed for it to stick to any surface. The company says it will stck to aluminum, steel, plastic, concrete, wood, and fiberglass if the surfaces are prepared properly. My original question was would it roll on over the diamonds or just gum up. It came out fine with the roller over the diamond.
