Source for Steel lift spacers for sagging rear

Post by rapom »

I have a 79 Chief that I would like to level so it only needs about 1/2" to 3/4" get there. I even to out the spare but that didn't help. Does anyone know where I could find some steel spacers is smaller than 1" sizes?

Are you talking lift blocks? If so, those are very easy to come by. Any lift block meant for a 2.5" wide spring should work.

Lift blocks are what I'm talking about. Seems that the smallest steel ones I can find go only as low as an inch.

What about using longer shackles? That's a pretty benign option on the rear axle, and a 1" longer shackle nominally will give you 1/2" of lift.

Most that choose lift block want height and are not trying to level, so there's no market for a 1/2" block. Another option would be buy 1" blocks and have a local machinist thin them to 1/2 or 3/4.

Found this guy - http://www.4crawler.com/4x4/ForSale/Shims.shtml He advertises shims, but he'll make blocks.

You can't use a lift shackle in back.

A 1" block should be fine for you. It actually may not be enough. I had to use a 2" block in the back of my Cherokee to get it back level.

Thanks for the link and the tips. I think I will mock up a piece of wood at 1 in. to see what it looks like before I order.
Thanks again.

A little extra lift over the front will not be noticeable and will compensate some for extra cargo you might haul.

For 1" lift I would do the Zero Rate Add a Leaf. Its basically a 1" steel block, but it bolts to the spring pack using the center bolt, so there is no way for it to be spit out if the ubolts get loose.
