Four Door Cherokee Long Track

Post by HeavyMetalThunder_81 »

So, Matt and I made it out to the Sgt Jeep's parts yard a couple weekends back. Great guy and really cool collection of Jeeps. Mostly CJ's and Wranglers but quite a few FSJ's, too. The coolest was this stretched Wide Track Cherokee as seen on Dirt Every Day. Built on a J-20 chassis so it's 3/4 ton. I inquired about rescuing it but understandably it is out of my price range lol.ImageImageImage

Story on it was that it was built by a company out here for one of the railroads to haul their crew around. Supposedly there used to be a shop out here that built custom wide track conversions for Wagoneers/Grand Wagoneers and crew cab conversions for J-trucks back in the day.

I'm not sure what it was titled as. I assumed a Cherokee, but since it's on a J-20 chassis I'm not sure. As for road worthy-ness? It had no engine/trans/tcase and had looked like it had been sitting for a very long time.

I really wanted to ditch my current project and save this one but the body work on the conversion is actually pretty bad. The time and money to make it straight would be crazy. He said he had someone interested in it for his asking price, though.

Seems pricey for the condition. I sure could add the the spare parts I carry with that extra room though.

10K for a rolling chassis with a body is insane. You are unlikely to get that for even very high demand cars (60's muscle cars for instance).

I'm in awe that anyone would see that and not feel ashamed at offering 10k as a price point.
Wow!
First thing I noticed was how the rear window doesn't seem to follow the horizontal lines. Like it was grafted on with a bow in the middle.
And no drivetrain? Seriously?
Must be the "sure honey... I'll post it for sale" price. *Face palm*

Zack bought that one. He has done a lot of work to it. Was the only full size jeep my wife said I should buy, but Zack had just bought it. I don't think it even ran or had an engine in it. It was called 'The Long Cool One'.
