Dome light question

I just replaced the head liner in my 82 Wagoneer. After I re-installed the 2 dome lights I noticed they only go on with the switch in the back or when either back door is opened. When I open the front doors only the lights under the dash go on. I never noticed if this is how it always worked, or if this is something new. Its not a big deal I am just curious if this is how the factory wired it or if I did something wrong.

Look under the carpet on the driver's side, just behind the front seat. There is a bullet connector that likes to corrode and fail.

Either that or the doorswitch for the front doors has been disconnected or failed.

All the lights should come on when you open the doors. The door plunger switches are good if the under dash lights come on, I agree with FSJ guy te problems going to be under the carpet behind the seat
