Been out running errands, got gas, topped off fluids...man this beast runs nice Its raining and cold....Texans here have on jackets, i am in shorts
Anyhow, just checking in:)
Mine died on me last night at a red light.. It was 40f, just got out from the movies. I didnt warm up the Jeep instead i drove off and half a mile down the road there was a red light.. Soon as it turned green and i stepped on the gas it died. Had to pop it in neutral and started fine and drove fine. Guess i should have let it warm up a bit before i drove it.
I noticed my carb doesnt like temps 40f or under. This morning one pump started it like normal it revs up high idle but a split second later idle drops down quickly until it dies and i have to pump it again and it starts and runs fine then. Did this last year too, even with 3-4 pumps itll start cold go to high idle but then idle drops till it stalls, then the 2nd start it idles fine

If you have an electric choke, turn the key to the 'run' position, pump the pedal once, then start it. If that doesn't keep the idle high (or if you don't have electric assisted choke) you may need to adjust your high idle setting.

Yes i lnow thats how i always start it. only takes 1 pump.. But in really cold weather it starts.. goes to high idle but then idle drops until it stalls. Then when i start it again its fine.
Already adjusted the high idle screw. it isnt that.. Itll go to 1200 rpm or so and then drop quickly to 1100 900 700 500 300 and die

Sounds like the carb is running out of fuel momentarily. Could be back siphoning to the tank, or evaporating out. There is enough to start, but not enough to run.
Woulnd't hurt to check the choke positioning as well.
Yea it happens a lot, thats the first time its died but often if i dont let it warm up and just drive off itll want to die but then sputter back to life when im in the middle of the road

Well i tried an experiment.. Pump the gas pedal 6 times before starting and it starts instantly and rpms sorta drop maybe 200 from 1200 but then go back up and it doesnt die.
Could the gas like mentioned be draining back or something ? Never needs 6 pumps in 60+ weather. only 1 and done.. But if i do 1-2 in cold it does the quick idle drop and dies.
Oh well
