Oils and Cleaners

Post by HowardT64 »

Got up early today, and went to Walmart. Got some power steering fluid, oil, octane booster, bug juice for the washer fluid reservoir... and, I got transmission fluid. I saw this gadget that I want to try. You screw it onto the jug of oil or some other fluid (the link is not Walmart but the gadget is identical) put the hose into the transmission then open the valve. Should make for a cleaner fill.
Going to get Fuel later and Ill take pics. Supposed to be cold and rainy today...good Jeep weather!!

till next time, Keep Jeepin!!! :fsj:

Hmm? I've seen those at the store. How does it vent to atmosphere? Without a vent it would be real slow.

Yeah, but then you've got another oily doodad laying around. I much prefer balancing on a wheeled shop stool and aiming for the hole with one eye closed like a circus clown, as the Jeep God's intended. :P

I've got one I use for transmission fluid. Makes life SO much easier. It is a little slow without a vent but you don't spill a whole quart on the exhaust when the funnel slips of out the transmission dipstick tube... Not that I've done that more than three times.

I dont like hoses and oils. They make things like this for transmissions or transfercases. Come with a little pump too. It can be usefull for filling up a transfercase or differential. But the oils left in the hoses can cause a mess when you store it. I wish they would come with plugs to plug both ends for storage

Mine has a cap on one end. The other end stays on the bottle.

Still wish it had plugs for both ends to store it, i guess you can shove something in it. Like when i used one of these types of things for gear oil... That gear oil smell never goes away and never gets out of what it touches.. So i had to toss the thing after i used it as it made my little storage bin outside for oils reek
