Multi View Camera Systems on FSJ

Post by Mustang Shooter »

Hey guys,
Anyone using a multi view camera system on their rigs?
I am sure I will eventually have a rear camera for backing up and maybe a front for parking, Dad thinks I should also look into having side views.
I don't know anything about them, so any thoughts and pointers will be appreciated.
I have seen a few systems for RV or ORT but they have what looks like cameras for home security. I think I would like something smaller and more discreet, maybe.
Thanks,
Dan

Have a setup on my Chevy truck that I will be moving to Jeep once completed. The unit I have has a wireless camera. The picture is always fuzzy. My friend has a unit where the camera is connected by wire to the monitor and much clearer . The cameras in both are quite small.1/2"×3/4"×1".

I've got one mounted in a licence plate frame. Hardly notice it's there.

I played with camera views a while ago. I found that they were not as helpful as I imagined. A backup camera is nice, but otherwise, they were not helpful for me when offroad. As always, YMMV.

Agreed. I have my camera powered by the running lights so I have control when the unit is active and while moving find it very distracting. Spend to much time trying to figure out what I am seeing. Offroad does the image really show enough info about size and shape of obstacle for rock crawling?

I am going to put on a backup camera. I am thinking I will mount it above the rear window and point it down. Mostly I want to make sure I don't back into things while I am wheeling.

From what I have read on other sites the front view isn't very helpful. Some folks like a passenger side view pointing down to help give them an idea of how close a cliff edge is.

Has anyone seen an unit that will accept more than 2 cameras. That is the max on mine, one wireless and one wired in.

Check out RV camera systems. There are several that will show 4 views. Very handy when trying to maneuver a big RV

I found with the windows on these Jeeps you shouldnt need a camera for anything.. but after i got all my windows minus windshield tinted at 15% it is a lot hard to see at night when backing up so i can see it being viable
