Last model year for SS tailgate window trim?

Been looking for the SS trim around the tailgate window. Anyone know the last model year for the SS version of the trim before Jeep switched to the crappy plastic stuff?

you mesn the plastic trim around the window that turns pink and peals off ? i neber knew it was stainless..

i bought the plastic stuff from teamgrandwagoneer and it lools good. but its already getting water in it and pealing witjin a year.

I believe they switched to plastic when the GW came out. And before then it was stainless, I am sure somebody else will know for sure.

I don't know that last year for SS but I do remember pulling one from a 81 Wag Ltd.

hmm there isa 82 in the junkyard like 15 min from me ima go today and check if it has one maybe i can take it and use it on mine lol

how you remove this trim is it riveted in ? im going to go look at the 82 today to see if it has it

Has a rivets at each bottom corner that will need to be drilled out. I have seen a metal painted version of this also. Was metal but not SS

Ok i just pulled one.

i went to a jy 20 min away the 82 wagoneer was plastic.

So i went 1 1.2 hours away to a 79 cherokee chief and it had the stainless with two rivets.

got the peice for 20$ hehe. Also scored another roadmaster center console with cup holders.

thanks for making the thread i had no idea they had metal ones. Glad i went up Now ima take the nasty plastic one iff and put this on.. sad part is my plastic one i got from team grabd wagoneer and it fell apart in a year

how would you suggest putting it on ? silicone it on ? or rivet it back on

Rivets held it on the 79 Cherokee all these years. Why do it different?

well i dont have a rivet gun lol so itd be cheaper to use silicone haha.. Guess i could get one at harbor freight though. Just gatta find stainless rivets so it doesnt rust

I used aluminum ribets.

I think I am blind. I have a Cherokee and pulled some trim from a Wagoneer and I have never seen rivets.

Today I got blessed. Found a 79 Cherokee with the window trim I wanted. Pulled several other pieces off the Cherokee for my parts bin. Had 7 pieces of trim in my hand when I left and it cost me $8 for all 7. I was hoping it had the rain gutter trim but it did not. Anyway, I am a happy camper.

Yea i just got back from the 79 cherokee i found. I used a old fashion bottle opener to remove the drip rail trim. Poped off so easy. I just ripped my ugly plastic junk off and poped the new drip rail trim on.. polished it with mags aluminum polish and looks soooo good.

got all the drip rail peices for 10$ too haha
