Adding a manual sunroof ? Yea or nay

Post by candymancan »

I was wondering is it possible to add a manual sunroof to my 90 ? I know the roof where the sunroof would go is flimsy to begin with i can push down from up top and its like a top on a open jar of pickles up there.. so im guessing the ceiling isnt really structural at all.

I like sunroofs. And recently and finally fixed my sunroof on my 98 5.9 zj and i wouldnt mind one on my wagoneer.

So hense my question. They sell manual sunroofs online with templates to cut the roof open and they look simple to install. Or it is not worth it ?

I guess im just trying to think of things i can do to upgrade the wagoneer a bit. Maybe its because i have nothing to fix atm and im trying to find an excuse to work on it

An aftermarket sunroof on an FSJ is a bad mistake IMHO.
You think these things leak now? Just wait...

Sunroofs are notorious for leaking.

The sunroof on my 20 year old zj doesnt leak but a few drops and into the drip tray. Only

How would a manual sunroof leak with all new seals ? I guess im just looking for things to add on it. Lol

You will have to find a way to fill the gap between the sunroof and your headliner. The headliner does NOT go all the way to the roof. There is a gap.

Other than that, have at it! :- )

I've installed dozens of the things through the years, on all manner of vehicles. None of them leaked.

-Buy a good, name brand unit.

-Read the instructions--twice.

-Measure six times, think, then cut.

-Use the proper, name brand, high end, sealing materials.
