Is there anyone that can decode the VIN for vehicles options like paint, interior..ect. I had this done for my ranchero through Marty auto works. He gave me all of the detail about the car and found that only 2 were made with the options I had.
The VIN will only give you the basics like year, wheelbase, engine and model. Here is a partial trim decoding list but it stops at 1973. http://www.stregasworld.com/JeepStuff/trim%20codes.pdf
Other manufacturers like Chrysler, added an options tag on the fender well that denoted all the options...sometimes carried over to a 2nd plate.
AMC/Jeep added a set of trim codes under the VIN on the data plate affixed to the firewall next to the master cylinder and you can get some info such as the paint and interior but it's very limited. Unless you are fortunate to find the broadcast/build sheet there's no way to know if the vehicle was a sales bank or custom ordered unit.

Can't tell much without the year - or the actual numbers on the VIN plate. Typically there is a trim and paint code on the VIN plate too, depending on the year.

We are able to decode the paint and trim codes if you still have them, they are on a firewall plate, passenger side for '72 and before, driver side with the VIN for '73-'87
