Re-installing intake manifold heat shield

Alright, removing the head shield from the bottom of the intake manifold is easy enough. But how would you go about re-installing?

Drill the rivets and replace with something?

I've got a 390 Machine intake to run but someone has previously robbed it of it's heat shield. Outside of baffling the breather does it actually do much? Keep in mind I'm running no valley pan.

Leave it off and run a valley pan.

Self tapping screws work well. Or, if you have a tap the right size you can tap the holes for machine screws. A little locktite wouldn't hurt.

Gabe, text me if you want to bring it by. You can keep an eye on my daughter for a few minutes and I'll drill/tap it for #10-32.

I re-riveted mine onto the edelbrock intake. But tapping it is the better solution if you have the chance to do it.

But its not a heat shield, its an oil baffle. You can technically run without it, but I would advise using it.

The real trick here is going to be enlarging the PCV grommet hole to 1.25". I'm thinking a good step drill in a drill press but I do have twist bits of appropriate size...

What do you all think?
