What finish did the transfer case shifter boot ring have in the 1978 era? I thought they were chrome but mine is black. I stripped it down to bare metal and it was never chromed.
Were the color matched to the carpet or something? or just black?
I now realize my floor shift ring was never used in 78. what I have is from a 60's early 70'S vintage J series or Wagoneer with an auto and a floor shift transfer case. the ones with the lever bent hard to the left and a chrome knob.
I guess originality isn't an issue in this case but I'd still like to put the original finish on the ring if anyone knows what it was back then.
