2001 Chevy Z71, what's it worth?

Post by 66stepside »

Leather interior, extended cab- four doors open, long bed, 1/2 ton, auto, 5.3, 4wd, fully loaded-

No title, zero pressure in cylinder #7. Body is in great shape- drive train swap into a jeep?

What's it worth?

I paid 500 for mine. No front clip or Bed. Sold about 3 times that in parts so it's a win in my book. I would offer 500 and see where they come back.

Why would a BIL be exempt from a lowball offer?

In laws are subject to a $250 selling tax and a $250 buying exemption just for having to deal with them.

I'm not gonna say they are exempt from a low ball offer. Thanksgiving dinner just may taste different after that lol!

Hahah, yeah.

I figure I'd offer him 500.00 and 1/2 of what I can get for parts, or 800.00 takes all.

2001 Chevy Z71, what's it worth?

I hate to dredge this one up from the dead, BUT he did accept the 500 offer and 1/2 of the cash from what I sold off.

So, my question is that when we test drove it (yeah, I literally went there), it drove just fine; the 5.3 had plenty of power, torque and there were no weird noises coming from the engine- no knocking, pinging, or what you’d expect from an engine with the number 7 cylinder at zero compression.

How is that possible, or is that possible?

Do a compression test. Maybe it's just a dead coil pack and you're good to go?

I plan on a compression test and a leak down test, too. Supposedly, though, a compression test was done and came back zero.

Maybe rings, or valves? I guess time will tell. I am leaning toward either cylinder heads needing work, or a rebuild- or both. I’d like to think that it will be just a coil pack, but I’d also rather deal with freshening up the top end than a total rebuild. I suppose time and testing will tell.
