I decided I needed a Wagoneer too.




First thing I've got to do is peel off that crappy purple Walmart window tint. Then scavenge a new door.

For $1700 I thought what the hell.

Still need to clean it in and out but its got a great looking interior. I did find the fog light covers in the back pass side storage area so that's cool.


It started with the J10 and now all our vehicles are Jeeps...


Hello my name is Charles and its been less than 24 hours since I bought my last Jeep...

We are an all-Jeep household as well, haha! However, shame on you if you ditch the purple bubble tint, that's uber rare and nobody will install it!

The original owner must have put those sheep skin covers on the minute he bought it, the seats are perfect.

I thought my wife's 91 was a great score/steal. Its virtually rust free but nowhere near as nice as this one. I'd happily pay the extra 300 bucks for that body and interior. Wowzers!

Dude, that thing is incredible! A little cleaner wax will shine the paint up and it will look new! Does it run and drive? (If not, pick up one of the many 360/727s for sale on here and, for less than $1000, you'll have a beauty of a rig!

It does run really well. It could use an alignment and wheels balanced. But I found a set of alloys I'm going to put on.

I ended up having to replace the tailgate glass since the po replaced the glass rail and installed it backward - the defrost lines were facing out!

It's a fun rig, I'm surprised by how much better it rides then the Honcho.

So are you going to spend some elbow grease and see if you can save the original paint? Doesn't look as bad as many.

Yeah, the hood and roof paint is pretty cooked. The clear coat only exists on the sides. I'll see how some rubbing compound/wax does on it.

I started peeling off the tint - WHAT A PITA. I need to figure out a better way then peeling and scraping it with a razor and cleaning the residue with acetone and goo gone is not a quick process.

I figured out/fixed some of the issues it had;

1) Passenger power seat not working - ended up being that it was set all the way down and the motor had unplugged the connector. I had to unbolt the seat to find it. I slit the carpet a bit more so the connector can live next to the motor not right under it.

2) Passenger rear window wouldn't go down. Seems to be a faulty switch, I can swap the wires on the motor and it'll go down and then back up when I put it back. Picking up a replacement switch this afternoon.

3) Tailgate glass only going up 3/4 of the way (and defrost line facing out!) Turned out the PO had tried to fix the track on the glass on glued it on backwards! I picked up a replacement from the JY and had to solder on new wire leads to the defrost, should be able to test it out soon!

Yes. I tried that first. All it does it make it stink and perfectly peels the plastic from the adhesive, leaving it all on the glass.

That sucks. I wonder if aircraft remover would work?

That old purple crap was always a pain to remove. Several times I had to resort to stripping the film off with heat then wiping the adhesive with a rag soaked in gasoline, acetone or other solvent, let it cook, then scraping the goo off with a putty knife.
Tedious and a hassle, but it works.
I've seen tint techs use a razor blade scraper with a handle and just going to town on it. Too much like work to me.

My question is how does the engine sound with that many miles if its the original ? And what about rust ?
