Good news!
I scored 5 yards of original AMC/Jeep black vinyl for the 77s through a local upholsterer who snagged the stuff in 79 for a repair. I'll use it on my panels and seats!

Also, I came across a 76 sales brochure that shows an interesting native pattern I've never seen.
It's the section with the red arrow.

Does anyone have a Chief or 'S' with this interior?
Please let me know as I want to reproduce it.

Would you have any interest in door panels from Jeeps I'm parting out? I can take them off their backing and you can have it for shipping.

I surely would!
The important parts are the design and the metal/plastic features.
The Holy Grail would be the 74 Cherokee saddle-looking embossing.
I am building a library of FSJ interiors and I admit I never really paid attention to this over the years.

Yes, we should work together on this.

I'll initiate a PM with contact info.

Yep! My 74 had the same panels in black.
To me, this design is like the Unicorn of FSJ panels...

Would be a MOFO to reproduce unless one had the exact embossed vinyl.
When the time comes I'd like to get a pair with the insert vinyl in good shape, cut it out and apply to new material.

I was looking at the 62-72 panels last night and think they could be reproduced easily enough if the owner provided the metal trim and badges.

Oh, and that Mitchell vinyl looks very close!
Too bad it's not high heat and UV rated though :(

I don't think that factory stuff is either though. Seems like standard thin vynil.

If you Google search Laredo Vynil there are lots of options. That was just the first link that came up.

Thanks for the tip. I'll search for auto/marine Laredo and see what I can find.
Yeah, the factory vinyl wasn't UV rated until Chrysler bought AMC.
I wouldn't use non-UV rated vinyl or thread on my products because I want it to hold up well for the buyer...and it has to be good stuff if I'm putting my name on it.

I've seen some Laredo stuff that had a urethane top coat. I think it was from Schindlers fabric. I've got a complete set of Laredo interior panels and seats. When the time comes I'd be more than happy to work with you on making patterns for new ones.

Yeah, I've been to Schindlers and saw their stuff. I think their Laredo pattern vinyl is made by Mitchell.
Having access to a full OEM 74 S set of panels would be very helpful.
Thanks.

I'd also be down for steering wheel. I have one I already cut the old material off ready to go..........
Hey, did you share photos of your 77 J Truck door panels on here somewhere?
I saw a low angle shot in your nifty power window switch thread and would dig a good full photo of one.
If it's the design I think it is, I can run off a pair quickly since no stamping would be needed...just some straight stitching with the Big Bad Sewing Machine.

I have this interior. It has an embossed diamond back stripe down the middle of the seat. I have a few extra stripes cut out as spares.

What year/model is that interior from Brad? Methinks 77, but I need to be sure.

Thanks Nightglide.
I noticed the 'gills' on your panel are much finer and twice as many than I've seen before.

To be honest I'm not even sure what those panels are out. I think a 78 chief? My truck was tan (yuck) with trashed bench seat and no door panels in it. Only thing that was good that I kept was dash pad.
I am putting a 65 dash in it so I think I'd rather have more that style panel.
Will you be able to reproduce the silver/foil type stripes those panels had?
I've never seen em in black tho..........

The foil look is easy to achieve. It's those horizontal embossed lines and logo that will be a pain to reproduce.
