filter on the charcoal canister ?

Post by candymancan »

The lines coming out of the canister that hook up to the top of the carb have what looks like a fuel filter.. I think this is called a seperator though.. Is this just a fuel filter ? Was wondering so i could go and replace it.

Not a filter. A vapor/liquid separator.

They really should not fail, unless they just get grime in them that can cause them to get plugged. But yes, you can buy new universal ones.

Theres nothing in them to possibly go bad. Just a cylindar with a tube down the middle that drops off before the end so and liquid falls off into the bottom and is sucked up by the PCV. The extra nipple needs to be a the bottom on these. If its clogged just soak it in some chem dip or something.

I have an extra nos AMC one that I could let go for $20. But you can just soak yours in some chem dip and get a rattle can and it'll be good as new.

Someone mentioned a new universal being available now. Does anyone have a part number?

Kansasboy001, if no one takes you up on the nos fuel seperator you have, I would be interested in buying it.

Sorry Candymancan for the hijack.

Thanks Candymancan. When I got my j10 truck years ago, all the emission parts were removed. Otherwise I would be cleaning mine up. Trying to replace some of these parts is becoming a big headache.

Kanasboy001, if you still have the seperator available feel free to pm me. Thanks.

I found two on eBay. Say fuel filters but they look exactly like what I bought at a swap meet. Except I paid 15 each
