This one's been sitting in the back lot of a car dealership for awhile.

What's the approx value here? AC works, front bushings (where the springs mount to the frame) need to be replaced, but otherwise seems in very good condition.

What's the approx value of this Super?

I'd do $5500. Obviously some stuff is not original, but the body looks good.

Interior looks great. Exterior needs help. Serious Wag Sag (found out in my case it was a $250 fix). I would offer $5k maybe a little less and go from there.

Interior looks really nice, exterior is eh. but for its age you cant complaint at least it doesnt look like a rust bucket. Not sure on value but if it runs and drives. Id wager 5-8k$

250$ for saggy leaf spring fix ? how did you do that. buy helper springs or something lol? Because i found original OEM springs made in Penslyvania and they were $1,100 for all 4 with load carrying gabriel shocks i got for an aditional $120.

And FYI with brand new oem springs on and those shocks my front end sits an inch or so higher then the rear. TBH i think it was just the way they were, even if you watch videos and look at pics.. Grand Wagoneers from factory were lower in the rear. And the original wagoneers from back then sat even lower then grand wagoneers did.

Unless the tires are sinking inside the fender and quarter panel then there is no sagging. Honestly i think the rear springs on these Jeeps were not enough. They are 1150lbs load capacity, and 7 pack front leaf grand wagoneers were 1330lbs to 1450lbs. and older wagoneers fronts were 5 pack front at 960 lbs.. I installed the 1450lbs fronts on mine, with the 1150 rear and with gabriels load carrying coil shocks. the rear still sits an inch lower, but with the coil shocks on i can sit in the back with 200 lbs of tools back there (i weigh 300lbs) and it only drops an inch.. Before it would drops like 3-4 inchs lol

In fact judging from the upward arch on the front springs, and how high the body is above the tires the rear im going to wager it actually has brand new leaf springs on it

68 Super Wagoneer Worth?

Post by 66stepside »

I have a hard time telling what the Supers are worth. I guess I dig em too much.

The 69 I had was like 400.00, it ran after I adjusted the neutral safety switch.

There was a runner-driver in Montana that recently sold. It was something like 1600.00. It was kinda hammered on, though.

Wagonmaster in Texas sells unrestored ones for 5k+.

There are three, or four Super threads on this forum and the motherboard that state the owners picked them up for 250.00-500.00. Some were sold later for 1500.00 plus, then resold for nearly twice that. They're always worth more parted out it seems.

Saggin waggin doesn't bother me- add a leaf, or lower the front a bit, or pony up for new springs, but that's the easy, over a weekend and a few ice cold brews kinda stuff to fix.

I wonder about that Winch in the front. It kinda looks factory. Did they cut into the front valance if it isn't factory?

All in all, I think 6-8k, or more, for that white one seems within reason. A "restored"/cleaned up one from Wagonmatster, or the other big time expensive jeep outfit sell for well into the 18-30k+ range.

To be fair, it was a quote from a spring shop to re-bend the rear leafs. I have not done it yet, as I keep reading about how re-bends are good for a limited time only. I put air shocks in the back and that 'mostly' fixed the issue!

I saw a restored 89 GW from Wagonmaster when I was in Seattle this spring. Talked with the guy for an hour and he was gushing praise and I thought that's all it was until I got a real close look at the engine, interior etc... it was crazy. Looked like, kid you not, fresh off the showroom floor. Even had New Car smell.

Too bad wagon master doesnt replace the suspensions.. i called and ask when i was serching for oem leaf springs and he said they dont do suspensions on their restorations.

Seems kinda BEEPY for the amount they ask for

Our 77 J20 had the same stickers on the 401 valve covers when we bought it. Cruel.

$500 if I can drive it on a trailer. $350 if I need help dragging it on.

Could be a factory winch. Pretty hard to see, but it could be a DC9. Is it an electric Ramsey? And yes, Jeep dealers did in fact cut into things when mounting these winches. I had a 65 J2000 with a Ramsey PTO winch. Truck had a bunch of dealer installed accessories. The front fenders and grille support panel where all cut and the sheet metal folded under to clear the corners of the winch bumper and the clutch lever on the winch.

I'd say $4500 or so on that Super. The non stock drive train brings the value down a lot imo. And the wrong bucket seats.

Yeah, I've done stock drive trains on jeeps- SBC conversions, lifted, lowered- I've done it all.

I'm not a purist, but I don't butcher them with exocages; others can do that.

The SBC doesn't phase me, neither does the non-factory seats.

If someone buys a 450.00 jeep, and slowly brings it back to life, spending 5-11k over several years, is that the essentially the same as a car payment for an 8k jeep? There's no satisfaction in saying "I built this." But the amount of money is the same.

A reasonably restore 68 Camaro can fetch 6-15k all day long and still end up appreciating over time. I'd like to think a Jeep can do that, too.

I don't think the headliner is correct. They're asking 10,500.00

Yeah, maybe. I don't think most of us don't drive stock rigs.

The owner of the lot gave it to his Mother when it first came in. It was a trade-in by the daughter of the recently deceased PO. The lot owners Mother drove it and loved it. Then the front bushing started giving out on the springs, and the bum steer (?) started, so now it sits.

When I first saw it and posted on another thread, they were asking 13.5K.

Good to know. I'll be going through the front end to see if the problem is an easy fix, or a bit more cumbersome.
