I meant to ask about size restrictions on pics as subject matter. I won my battle with the avatars already!

I forget if I did mine here or not. Yup, I did. That's Black Jack in that pic, shortly after I did the SOA in '99 with a Chev axle.

I use Flickr for sharing photos with my family in the PNW and for hosting images for various forums. One of the things I like about Flickr is that it automatically creates I think 4 different image sizes so it's easy to copy a thumbnail and use it as an avatar.

I had the same problems.

I could size the avatar properly, but saving it as a .jpeg left it too large.

I saved the file as a .bmp and it worked properly.

Just my thoughts...
