That's probably where it will start and go up from there.

A Rubicon JLU starts at 41k, the JLT will be a bit more than that. Diesel option is typically an extra 5-6k, so yeah. 50k sounds right.

What is yuck about it?

I mean yes, its 4dr only. I wish there was an extended cab version. But its a proper truck. It halls plenty for its class, it can tow 7500lbs. Its a nice machine.

There is a mild hybrid version of the JL. When you get the turbo 4cyl you also get the hybrid system with it. In which case the turbo is the fastest version of the JL. But the battery is in a bad place, easy to hit on things.

Jeep literally cannot build enough Wranglers to satisfy demand, it would be very surprising for these trucks to not sell well also.

It’s not terrible, I think it would look better if they had not used the stock rear JL doors and used a full door, just looks like awkward all lopped of for no reason. The same folks that flocked to JKs once they added leather and made the interior all fancy will buy them up. Not that there’s anything wrong with that (I have one), anyone that doesn’t need a truck for truck stuff will love it. Payload (1100-1400lbs) is a good bit less than the new Ranger at 1860lbs. But again, if you don’t mind the looks and just need to haul bikes, camping gear, dirt bike, or some bags of mulch from the local big box store it’s well suited to that. Towing capacity isn’t bad either.

When you hear "Gladiator" you expect to see something that looks like an old school pig-nose J-truck. But this looks like a regular old YJ/TJ with a bed on it. Ho hum, boooring.

Part of the appeal of the Wrangler is the aftermarket add on features Jeep, and other companies offer.

Whether it’s the Gladiator package, or the M715 package, Jeep, and other companies are going to probably sell a lot of aftermarket goodies to the buyers as usual.

Looks like we were all off in our guess. From the article I posted about them selling every one:

“The top of the line Gladiator Rubicons feature special badging and trim at a starting price of $60,815.”

And that’s not even diesel.ImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImage

Hi-lee-crap!!!
So it’s highly possible that a diesel ruby gladiator will be $65-70k!?!
Mind blown!

Edit: also from the article:

“And while Jeep probably won’t sell 1.5 million of them annually, as the sale day would suggest, orders can now be placed on regular production Gladiators, which have a base price of $35,040 and are expected to begin deliveries in May.”

Thats a special launch edition, it doesn't really have any bearing on the standard production models.
